The latest infographic in our series charts an interesting relationship between polling data and our source sentiment data. The infographic demonstrates that when Republicans (in the
aggregate as a group) increase their negative statements to the Media regarding Mitt Romney, President Obama’s poll numbers improve. When the Republicans stay united, and limit the
negativity of their statements to the Media, Mitt Romney benefits in the polls. The infographic suggests that this should have been a core GOP strategy throughout the campaign. The
infographic shows three distinct time periods with very different levels of negativity amongst the quoted Republican sources. Romney polled significantly better when the negativity of his
own party was limited.
